The Seed Rights
Trichome Calendar.

The first annual macro trichome photography calendar and coffee table book. Submit your work. Be part of something that doesn't exist yet.

★ INAUGURAL YEAR — 2027 CALENDAR

Nobody has done this yet.
That's exactly why we're doing it.

A trichome is the most extraordinary structure on the cannabis plant — a microscopic resin factory producing every cannabinoid and terpene that makes this plant what it is. Under proper magnification, they are visually stunning: translucent spheres on crystalline stalks, shifting from clear to cloudy to amber as the plant reaches peak maturity.

Macro trichome photography is a serious craft. It demands patience, precision, and intimate knowledge of the plant. The photographers who do it well have captured something most people have never seen — and most of that work lives buried in Instagram feeds and grows forums, seen by a fraction of the audience it deserves.

Seed Rights is changing that. Every year we'll publish a physical calendar featuring 12 selected trichome images — one for every month. The best submissions from each year also go into an annual coffee table book. Selected photographers are credited on every copy, in perpetuity.

This is year one. The photographers who submit now are the founding contributors to something that will grow. That matters.

Two tracks. One standard: exceptional.

★ PROFESSIONAL TRACK

Dedicated Camera Setup

DSLR, mirrorless, or dedicated microscope camera with macro lens, extension tubes, or microscope objective. This is where most calendar-quality trichome work comes from.

  • Macro lens (90mm+, 1:1 or greater)
  • Extension tubes with standard lens
  • Microscope camera (USB or HDMI)
  • Minimum 20MP recommended for print
MOBILE TRACK

Phone + Macro

We're open to being surprised. If you've captured something extraordinary on a mobile setup, show us. A great photo is a great photo regardless of what made it.

  • iPhone Pro native macro or clip-on lens
  • Android macro mode or third-party lens
  • We'll evaluate mobile and pro separately
  • Best mobile shot may earn its own feature

Where this is going.

01

The 2027 Calendar

12 selected images. Printed and sold. Selected photographers credited on every copy. Submissions open now, selections announced in early 2027.

02

The Annual Coffee Table Book

The best submissions from each year compiled into a print coffee table book. Sold to support the movement and the platform. Photographers credited and compensated.

03

The Competition

As sponsorships develop, the annual submission process becomes a judged competition with real prizes. We're building the foundation now so the competition has somewhere credible to live.

04

The Event

An annual gathering. Photographers, growers, breeders, advocates. A celebration of the plant and the people who care about it deeply enough to spend hours photographing structures most people have never seen. That's the long game.
